‘If you’ve ever found yourself so deep into a thrifting adventure that it coincides with beer o’clock, this one’s for you. The crew at East 9th Brewing has teamed up with hospitality heavyweight Jerome Borazio (Laneway Festival, The Reunion Island Pool Club) to give Melbourne its first ‘op-shop bar’. Dubbed Doss Closet, the one-of-a-kind drinking hole has made its home inside another of Borazio’s Footscray venues, beer garden Lickity Split.
The Moreland Street venture is an extension of the fundraising op-shop parties the East 9th Brewing team has hosted in the past and it’s set to be a permanent fixture. Expect a comfy space that’s filled with racks of pre-loved fashion for guys and girls, giant disco balls and stars Doss Blockos brews at the bar. Blue lighting pays homage to the Polished Man cause and you’ll even spy a couple of SHUFL tables — a shuffleboard-inspired bar sport that’s yet to land anywhere else in Melbourne.’
